When injected into specific muscles, it temporarily paralyses or weakens them, resulting in a smoother appearance of lines and wrinkles. Common areas treated include forehead lines, crows feet around the eyes & frown lines. Botox also has various medical uses. It is employed to treat conditions associated with muscle over activity, such as chronic migraines, muscle spasms & cervical dystonia (a condition causing neck & shoulder muscle contractions). Botox works by blocking nerve signals in the muscles where it is injected. This inhibits muscle contractions, leading to a temporary relaxation of the targeted area. In cosmetic use, this effect is harnessed to reduce the appearance of wrinkles caused by repetitive muscle movements. When administered by trained and qualified professionals, Botox is generally considered safe. However, as with any medical procedure, there are potential risks & side effects. Common side effects may include temporary bruising, swelling, or redness at the injection site.
